How difficult is to breed budgies? Part II #OurPets

Following the story of how we decided to breed budgies we covered in this post earlier: How difficult is to breed budgies? Part I. Now it is time to present the second part of our adventures.

I think we were pretty successful for first timers. We got six chicks out of eight eggs. Second egg was cracked – Zoe or George cracked it accidentally. Seventh egg was infertile.


As per color - three are copies of George(yellow), two are white and blue and last one - something special. She was with dark skin when born and was different from the rest in everything. Her body is blue turquoise and wings are dark grey – almost black with white feather tips. We call her Maleficent because she is unusual and blackish, but loved her and decided to keep her.


Out of six we got two boys and four girls. It is hard to distinguish baby budgies sex 100%. The rule of thumb is – if cere doesn’t have white spots and white areas around nostrils then it is most likely a boy – otherwise girl. It works in 90% of the cases.


Even though all babies became quite big and fully covered with feathers – they preferred to stay in nesting box and fed by their parents. They all got out eventually.


You cannot imagine how much mess 8 budgies can make, considering six of them are babies. They play with everything including seeds and floor around cage is covered with seeds in two meters radius. They don’t eat seeds; they sit in the feeder and start moving their legs so fast that seeds flying out of the feeder and cage. And they take turns too. We have one feeder with perch and young budgies found that it is fun to squeeze in whole between perch and feeder and they go there one buy one in both direction. Eldest one however became too big that couldn’t get through and stuck every time she tried. In one month she became much bigger than her five year old parents. Even in budgie family first baby gets more food and attention.


What happened next is struck me the most. George(dad) started “flirting” with daughters and Zoe(mom) started nipping them. Zoe started bullying her daughters because she became jealous or wanted to show everyone that she is the queen of the cage. Budgie family is different than human: if you can eat by yourself - you are on your own – and there is no more parent-child connection or protection.


As soon as Maleficent left nesting box – Zoe started next nesting cycle. We found new eggs in nesting box - but we weren’t ready for it. We tired from fist brood: mess, noise and we didn’t know what to do with five babies that we already have. We moved Zoe to a separate cage. If you don’t stop hen, she has eggs until she is done and may even die, but won’t stop. The only way is to take out the nesting box or move her to another cage.

Recover Your Data Using Disk Drill for Windows Free Application

Data recovery is one of the important tasks needed for different situations. All deleted files like Word documents, Excel files, coding pages, images and videos do not disappear permanently when you push delete button. It is good to have a chance to recover important information and give your files second life.

Another reason why the recovery procedure is needed when a hard drive, flash devices, cameras or memory cards are unreadable or damaged. Disk Drill is quite easy to use, you can filter the storage by file type you need to recover or work with all file types. For media files there is a preview mode where you can select the lost file(s). On top section choose the location where you want the file(s) to be recovered to and the work is done. Everything is pretty clear, but it will be helpful to see some kind of support section how to use the software.

Overall, I think Disk Drill is very cool and much needed application, good thing it is free and full of great features.

It is nice to see that Disney brings our favorite tales to a big screen and every time it is a gem in acting, costume design and production. If you are ready to cherish your childhood memories but with modern approach how magic works these days, you need to see new live - action Disney movie Cinderella opening today in theatres across North America.


This week we had a chance to attend advance screening of Cinderella which was not limited to screening only. We were also exposed to a red carpet experience when Scotiabank Theatre in Toronto were filled with prominent Canadian media came to celebrate the release of wonderful story about Cinderella, pretty girl whose dreams come true. Plus Lily James, who played Cinderella along with our favorite Social TV Team, opened the screening. I admit it was really “Cinderella-like” having all courage, wish and kindness to be with viewers that day and share all the excitement the fairy tale brings to us.

Ella is a beautiful young woman whose life comes crashing down when her merchant Father (Ben Chaplin) remarries following the tragic death of her Mother. Eager to support her father, Ella welcomes her new Stepmother (Cate Blanchett) and her daughters, Anastasia and Drisella into the family home. After Ella’s father passed away, Ella forced to become a servant in her own home.

It was interesting to follow the adventures of the heroine and I agree that she represents a very strong character. Having courage to overcome all obstacles and have enough kindness to forgive the ones who how not treated you well is quite difficult. I can even say that Ella’s Stepmother with all her strength could not do that. I really liked Cate Blanchett performance, whose Stepmother character shows experienced and beautiful woman but became full of evil intentions.


The movie costumes and designs are pure elegance and beauty, what to enjoy from the beginning to the end of the film. Cinderella’s dress decorated with Swarovski crystals and tender layers of fabric can take your breath away, especially when Ella dances with the Prince at the Royal Ball. That dance scene was so wonderful that I even forgot that I was watching a movie.

Everyone can find something new and fresh in this favorite fairy tale with pumpkin coach, the Royal Ball, fairy godmother, true love and pretty girl. Follow your heart and you may meet your prince, same as Ella met Kit aka the Prince in the forest.
