Evolution of Smooth Holiday Edition

This holiday season eos brought lovely holiday lip balm set for everyone who likes colorful spheres. I think the holiday limited edition collection became favorite among my family and friends. Our hectic lifestyle and Canadian weather require everyday treatment for our lips. Why this holiday edition is so special, the answer is simple - the way you can customize it to fit your style. As the set includes three spheres of different colors, flavours and special stickers designed to decorate your eos lip balms. From numbers, letters to fancy flowers, diamonds and hearts, you can personalize the spheres. We decided to dedicate our set to New Year celebration and add some messages to the balms. Of course, there is not much space to write long ones, but I think we did a pretty good job decorating.

Eos lip balms made of natural and organic ingredients; you can feel it when using them. The good thing is that eos balms found fans not only among ladies, men also like eos natural and moisturizing lip care. The collection includes Sweet Mint, Pomegranate Raspberry and Limited Edition Vanilla Bean flavours and two sheets of dazzling decorative art. I like Vanilla Bean flavour, it makes my lips soft and tender. I saw that young kids like Eos lip balm spheres; they make good “distraction” toys thanks to nice colors and shape.

The Naughty Listers Musical by The Second City Toronto

The Naughty Listers Teddy

The Second City is very unique theatre, every performance there is a combination of action, music, songs, scenes and jokes you can hear nowhere else. For a short period of time Toronto folks can enjoy hilarious family-friendly musical The Naughty Listers, which arrived just on time for holidays.

The Naughty Listers

Is it nice to be naughty? Yes, sometimes, it is. It is not possible and, definitely, boring if every kid become good and nice. In The Naughty Listers we follow adventures of Santa and his elf who decided to take Santa’s place and control The North Pole. Two naughty kids on Santa’s List are ready to spoil everyone’s holidays and do something nasty. To get everything back on track, save Christmas and other magical moments, the naughtiest children ever are on search to help. You cannot imagine what kind of gifts naughty children ask for Christmas like a truck with broken glass or even worse. One moment Santa became frozen after eating cookies as a result of a trick. Everything finally comes to normal again at the North Pole, and you realize that naughty kids can be helpful sometimes too and not all Elves are nice.

Matty Burns Naughty Listers
Teddy with Matty Burns

Children enjoyed the show, it was so much fun. Teddy watched it with interest. He, probably, recognized his behavior patterns on the stage performed by entertaining The Naughty Listers cast. There are many funny jokes in the musical like a jet as Christmas gift or being ready for a mission. Every performance is special, so definitely it will not be the same as we watched. Puppets, live music and songs make this show amusing. I still have this "It is nice to be naughty" song in my head and sing it when no one can hear me.

The Second City

Do not miss an opportunity to see The Naughty Listers, as it continues until January 1st only. There are matinee performances only, suitable for all ages, so bring your family, kids, grandparents, friends and co-workers, enjoy and have fun. Happy Holidays!

Welcome to Neverland, The World of Pirates, Warriors and Fairies #PanMovie

We like classic Peter Pan story, every year we can see new releases and productions which take the story to a new level with some modern updates. Peter Pan is always favorite among kids and adults, where even evil characters are an honor to play for children during playdates. On fall we had a chance to see the show The Peter Starcatcher at Shaw Festival at Niagara-on-the-Lake and, recently, we were excited to see new Warner Bros. movie PAN.
Pan Movie
The film which coming out on December 22, just on time for holidays to enjoy favorite story. It takes us to London during Second World War when the city is continuously under attack and sirens sounds become usual part of everyone’s life. Peter, played by Levi Miller, a mischievous 12-year-old boy with rebellious attitude who lives in the bleak orphanage and where he has lived his whole life. Then one incredible night, Peter is taken away from the orphanage and spirited off to a fantastical world of pirates, warriors and fairies called Neverland. There, he finds amazing adventures and fights life-or-death battles while trying to uncover the secret of his mother, who left him at the orphanage so long ago, and his rightful place in this magical land. For kids and adults who work every day as miners to get fairy pixie dust for evil pirate Blackbeard, Neverland was not that magical, even James Hook lost hope to change anything there. Until rebellious Peter Pan shows that he can not only stand for himself but also fly like a bird. Great skills never left without attention, so when Blackbeard (Hugh Jackman) decides to get rid of Pan, he teams up with the warrior Tiger Lily (Rooney Mara) and a new friend Hook (Garrett Hedlund) to defeat the ruthless Blackbeard to save Neverland and discover his true destiny—to become the hero who will forever be known as Peter Pan.

The movie is fascinating with huge flying ships of Neverland, and even more spectacular battles. There are lots of moments which catch your attention and magical episodes when you feel like you flow along the river. Just to say when Tiger Lily is telling the story about Peter Pan’s mom and dad using a barrel or the story Pan is told in the river. It was strange to see that James Hook and Peter Pan are not rivals, but Hook got the title Captain at the end. Teddy said that Captain Hook was good in the movie, why? Though he thinks, that Hook is not very bad character to hate but still.

We had a good time watching the movie, the plot was very simple and easy to follow. There were some sad moments about Pan’s parents but overall kids loved it. The film is available on Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack, Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD on December 22.

Stay Warm with Nikko Lighting Canada Ceramic Heater

Nikko 168

As the weather is getting colder, we are looking for the ways to warm up. I always had a portable heater with me to take to work and at home when it is cold. Even though modern buildings in Canada are fully heated I think some spots are really cold especially when you work or live in large rooms or sit close to the window. Sometimes you do not need to heat the whole house to feel comfortable, and just one warm corner is enough to be heated using a portable heater.

Nikko Lighting front

Recently I received Nikko Lighting ceramic heater, model Nikko 168 to try. We used it for a while and very satisfied how it works. Nikko 168 is lightweight, even Teddy can move it from one room another. The size is pretty small too. It operates on 1500 Watt and heats room temperature up to 120F degree. The ceramic heater has three modes: Low, Medium and High, along with Fan. Using Thermostat you can set the air flow from low to high. The power light indicates that the heater is on and working. Nikko 168 also has essential safety features. It designed automatically shut-off when tipped forward or backward. In case of overheat or if the inlet air duct gets obstructed, Nikko 168’s Thermal Protection System shuts off the heater.

Nikko Lighting back

I like how Nikko 168 is designed, it looks very stylish and I like the color and how its small size fits our rooms’ style. Of course, you cannot place anything close to the heater but, overall, it is neat and cozy. The heater also has a convenient carrying handle to move it from one spot to another. You can use it at home, take it to work, cottage or when travelling. It is compact and safe. The price is $39.95 on Amazon.ca along with free shipping. For more information about Nikko 168, please, check Nikko Lighting online.

Green Esthetics Organic Argan Oil: From Radiant Skin to Shiny Hair & Strong Nails

Argan Oil

Using natural and organic beauty products & skin care is becoming very popular every year as more and more people switch to healthier options and pay attention to the labels and ingredients. We are not obsessed with organic-only products but every time when we shop we try to consider greener options, what is better for our health. I like when I can find quality organic products on the market which do not cost a fortune and fit our lifestyle.

Green Esthetics Argan Oil is USDA certified organic product, sometimes called golden elixir because of its amazing abilities to moisturize, soften and hydrate. Argan Oil is a completely natural moisturizer and treatment for skin, hair and nails. It is produced from the Argan nut of the Argan tree which grows only in Southwestern Morocco. Argan Oil has so many benefits to nourish and protect your body that I noticed the difference from the first use. It is great for skin as the oil moisturizes using the fatty acids and brings natural glow. Argan Oil hydrates and soothes irritations of the skin caused by weather, pollution, sun exposure, as well as wind and cold - so typical for our Canadian winter. That’s why I like this elixir.
Argan Oil on Hair
How my hair look after using Green Esthetics Argan Oil
Argan Oil fortifies the nails and cuticles, moisturizes dry hands affected by eczema and other skin irritations. Just few drops are enough to make you face glow and shine. I love using Argan Oil on my hair, because it works like a magic. Argan Oil brings shine and strength, makes hair look healthy and mends split ends. The oil can be used to moisturize the scalp if extra care is needed for dryness and dandruff. The best thing is to use a few drops, even for my long hair couple drops are enough to bring shine and style.

Argan Oil is a miracle treatment from head to toes, and should be in our beauty arsenal for everyday use, especially when it is pretty affordable. Green Esthetics Argan Oil price is $16.95 for 15ml and you need just a few drops to make a difference in your look.

Green Esthetics Longer Lash for Beautiful Look

I never had long eyelashes and always admired the people on TV and in real life who had long beautiful eyelashes. When I was younger it was very popular to use a castor oil in capsules, it definitely worked but it was not very convenient and easy to apply. Eyes are very sensitive and need to be treated accordingly. Eye care products have to be high quality, safe and do not irritate sensitive eye area.

Green Esthetics

I recently came across a new beauty product by Green Esthetics called Longer Lash. It is made of natural ingredients only and was designed to grow longer and thicker eye lashes within 4-6 weeks. It sounded very inviting as holiday season was on the way and having longs lashed would be perfect. When the product arrived I was more than happy. I like how it is designed especially its little applicator brush. It is so convenient and easy to use; you just need to apply Longer Lash to the base and avoid a contact with eyes as much as possible. The brush should go from the inner corner of the eye outwards. The eye should be absolutely clean before applying. Once Longer Lash has completely dried, you can apply other skin care products and make-up.

Longer Lash

I have used the product for about four weeks, and I think it is really great. My most challenging part, as usual, was to apply Longer Lash twice a day. In the evening, I usually feel exhausted and want skip everything. But beauty belongs to ones who have a discipline and work hard, if you follow the routine, the results do not wait to show up. Longer Lash is really amazing product; it works fantastic to make eyelashes thicker and longer. You can use it for eyebrows too. I did not do that, I think eyelashes are just enough for me. I am pretty satisfied with the results and I knew that changes were not going to come in one night, but my eye lashed look now much thicker and longer, so I highly recommend this product because it works. The product seems a little pricey, $69.95, but Longer Lash lasts quite long because you need only few drops to apply.

For more information about Longer Lash, please visit Green Esthetics web site and check them on Facebook and Twitter. They have nice selection of natural beauty products.

FlipGive Platform Makes Fundraising Easy, Convenient & Fast

Fundraising has never been easy but it is worth all the efforts putting into it no matter what you support - local charity, hockey team or your school. I saw various fundraising campaigns from door-to-door to on-line and what I learned that people are willing to donate and support if you ask them for it. In order to raise money you should know your fundraisers, your community, your neighbors, what they like, what they want and interested in. For example, if you bring me a chocolate I'll probably buy it, but if you ask me to buy cookies I think I'd pass since I am not into baking goodies.

Lots of things change throughout the years, the fundraising campaigns ten or twenty years ago are not like what we have now. Our digital world became more involved than real one; prices, fees go high every year that's why fundraising efforts and methods become more sophisticated and diverse. Recently, I came across FlipGive, a Toronto-based digital fundraising platform that gives teams, clubs, schools, and organizations the chance to raise much-needed money by just having friends, family, online community do their shopping online with major retailers. For every dollar spent at participating retailers like Indigo, Starbucks, Under Armour and Nike, between 5 and 50% is donated to the organization or charity of your choice. Holiday shopping is now on its peak and it is a fantastic opportunity to raise funds using FlipGive. With busy lifestyle modern families have, when it is much easier to connect and communicate online, FlipGive makes fundraising faster without depending on weather conditions, meetings and products you have to sell.

While all the traditional ways to raise funds are still present and effective adding a new and easy way to do it digitally is convenient, accessible and limitless in terms of potential, especially around the holidays when people are going to shop anyway.

FlipGive combines the convenience of online shopping with the best of online fundraising, making it easier for people to raise money, and for retailers to generate sales while improving communities. Fundraisers earn up to 50% for their school, sports team, or cause by shopping with Starbucks, Under Armour, The Gap, Nike, JC Penny and other retail partners. To start your fundraising campaign visit flipgive.com. To become a FlipGive retailer, visit getflipgive.com.

Teddy Bear Toss & Toronto Marlies Holiday Bash Continues #MarliesLive

Toronto Marlies

I noticed that we went to a lot of hockey games this season. I think it is probably because our kids are growing and became more interested in sports activities. They are now more than just dedicated hockey fans as children play hockey themselves in their junior hockey league with weekly games, travelling and fundraising. There is always great to see a professional hockey games in Toronto and our home teams Maple Leafs and Marlies in action. If children learn something new, decide to be involved in sports or become a fan of a team, there is always a good outcome as sport unites people and occupy minds only with positive thoughts.

Duke with Teddy Pre game fun Marlies

Last week we were very excited to join the Holiday Bash and Teddy Bear Toss with Toronto Marlies at the Air Canada Centre. Everything there is decorated for holiday season. Not sure if it is a holiday hockey magic or Santa’s presence but Marlies controlled the puck most of the time in that game. It was Holiday Bash as an entertainment was on its peak with the Marlies Dance Crew performance, Candy Cane toss, “present” toss and holiday music. The Holiday Bash could not be festive without Santa who was with us at the game with his favorite reindeer, plus did you know that Santa plays hockey?

Teddy Bear Toss Marlies

When Marlies scored their first goal, Teddy Bear button was activated and flying staffed animals headed on ice thanks to all fans who made it possible. All collected toys were donated to Yonge Street Mission. It was great feeling to make children happy and we know how children love toys.

We also met our old friend Duke and took a photo with Santa. We expected the game to be more engaging, twisting and cheerful with cool tricks. Though Marlies shutout Manitoba Moose with final 9:0 score, it was interesting game to watch and we are looking forward to join upcoming ones.

Magical Christmas by Lamplight at Black Creek Pioneer Village

Black Creek Publishing House

Our family loves spending time at Black Creek Pioneer Village. We always invite our relatives and friends there to learn how people can leave without electricity, TV, smartphones and have a happy and an exciting life. There are so many special events during the year and last Saturday, on December 5th, we boosted our holiday spirit by coming to Black Creek to enjoy Christmas By Lamplight event.

Black Creek Carols

The event time was from 6pm to 9:30pm. It was completely dark and the only sources of light on the street and in the buildings of the village were kerosene lamps and candles.
Black Creek Performance

There was a lot of live music and singing performances. All of them related to Christmas. In Mennonite Meeting House The Playford Players performed Guitar and Hammer Dulcimer duet. They encouraged audience to participate and Teddy played jingle bells when The Playford Players sang Jingle Bells song.

Black Creek Music Black Creek Town Hall

In the middle of the Town Hall, Green group of singers were singing Traditional Christmas Carols around the fire pit. It was enough flashlights, lyrics and hay bales around the fire to join performers. In the Town Hall Nollaig, Folk Music quartet played Christmas tunes, enriched with sounds of violin and flute. James Levac played piano in Doctor’s House. The gem of the night for us was a concert of The Ambiance Singers in Fisherville Church. The ensemble of 20 to 25 women performed Christmas Songs with Danny McErlain as a pianist. It was amazing and I highly recommend listening performance that takes about forty minutes from beginning to the end. Teddy also took a lesson of Ballroom Dancing in Half Way House Ballroom. Mumblypeg duet played for dancers catchy dancing tunes with a harmonica and a guitar.

Black Creek Beads Work

There were a few houses with Christmas Craft activities. Teddy made beaded an icicle twist and a heart in Weaver’s Shop and Ribbon Tree Ornament in Stong’s Second House. Old style Christmas tree decorations now outshine modern ones on our family’s Christmas tree.

Black Creek Dinner Table

We really enjoyed free testing of traditional Christmas treats. Candied Orange Peels, Turkish Delight, Treacle Toffee, Cheese Straws, Mincemeat Tarts, Gingerbread Cookies, Peppermint Pastilles – all prepared and cooked using hundred years old recipes. When you taste them, you can feel the difference with similar treats from our grocery stores. There are some special ingredients in them. For example it was a hint of cayenne pepper in Cheese Straws and you have pungent aftertaste after trying it.

Black Creek Carpenter Store Back Creek

Teddy liked “Tin Soldier”, Rod Puppet Performance and “T’was the Night Before Christmas” book reading. School Lesson was fun, but Teddy was surprised to learn that corporal punishment was common in the schools at that time. And, of course, Santa was in the Village in the Flynn House Santa’s Cottage. Teddy has some time to remind Santa that he wants a Table Hockey this year. Santa tried negotiating and choosing a second choice gift, but Teddy was unwilling to compromise.

Black Creek Santa Black Creek Ribbon Craft

It was an exceptional night and we enjoyed every minute of it. It is so many activities there that you need to plan carefully in order to cover as many as possible of them for three and half hours. And definitely come at 6pm sharp. It will be two more Christmas By Lamplight nights before the Christmas - on December 12th and 19th. Bring all your family, everyone can find something special there and experience Holiday Season in our ancestors way.

Beados Gems Designer Studio for Crafty Little Hands

Beados Gems

Beados Gems is a wonderful way to create jewelry and pendants. It is called a design studio and I totally agree with that. It has everything to work on pretty sets, does not take much space and designed for children's little hands. Working with Beados Gems jewels can bring not only pretty jewelry but also help children develop focus and concentration as little beads require some patience and accuracy. When we first opened the Beados Gems set, Teddy was lost a little, trying to put gem beads by color and then started using them. Beads all rolled around and mixed up. After a while he managed to put everything in order, use trays and design templates. The most helpful feature in the set for Teddy was the gems container where beads are sorted by color, you need to turn the container to choose the color you need and then using the attached pen put the selected bead on a template. He made a pretty bracelet, a pendant and came to the point that he can design templates himself.

Beados Gem Teddy

Kids use Beados Gems Designer set to create their own Beados items with beads that stick together with just a spray of water and no mess & tears. Using this designer studio, children can design one layer or two layers jewelry, for example bracelets where layers are connected with special disks. There are also accessories including jewelry plugs, ring, necklace and bands in the set. To finalize your work after it dried out, you just need to attach your creation to selected accessories.

Beados Gems Spray

Overall, I think it is pretty cool design set for kids who love working with beads and create pendants, bracelets, jewels and necklaces. For Teddy the work was a little tedious but he became more attentive to details and focused after playing with this set. Now he is thinking about making some logos with beads and hope he will be patient enough to fulfill his ideas.

The price for Beados Gems Designer Studio is about $37. Beados Gems Studio and activity packs with various designs including Shopkins are available at major Canadian retailers like Toys ‘R’ Us, Sears, Walmart and London Drugs.
