Disney's Pinocchio Signature Collection Comes to Blu-ray on January 31

One of Disney’s most classic animated films, "Pinocchio", comes to Blu-ray on January 31 and is now available to enjoy on Digital HD.


Based on an 1800s story by Carlo Collodi, it stars Jiminy Cricket (voiced by Cliff Edwards) as a vagabond insect who spends a rainy night at the shop of toymaker Geppetto. The Blue Fairy brings a marionette to life after Geppetto wishes on a star for a son, and Jiminy Cricket is appointed the new boy's conscience. He has a devil of a time keeping up as Pinocchio is willingly lured through various forms of temptation, the most frightening of which leads him to Pleasure Island, where he drinks, smokes, and is almost turned into a jackass. This sequence, as well as Pinocchio's brave rescue of Geppetto from the belly of a whale, ranks among the most memorable story in animation history.

Now, it will delight a whole new generation of dreamers with its masterful animation, unforgettable characters and award-winning music. Disney’s "Pinocchio" movie received  two Academy Awards for Best Original Score and Best Original Song "When You Wish Upon a Star".


The Walt Disney Signature Collection release includes hours of classic bonus material and exclusive features. "Pinocchio" presents the tale of wood-carver Geppetto's beloved puppet who embarks on a thrilling quest – with faithful friend Jiminy Cricket – that tests his bravery, loyalty and honesty, all virtues he must learn to fulfill his heart’s desire: to become a real boy. The wish of a kindly woodcarver comes true when a puppet he created comes to life.The child, Pinocchio, means well, but he cannot help lying...and every time he lies, his nose grows bigger and bigger.


Favorite story for generations which continues to inspire and amaze children and adults. This week "Pinocchio" will be available on Blu-ray. You can watch at the comfort of your home, especially during cold winter months, here in Canada. Teddy likes the story so much, he re-read it in his Disney Collection book multiple times.
